Our story began in the late 1950’s when our founders father G. H.Bemis returned home from the Army and started an LTL business with one truck and a trailer. G. H.’s sister Carol handled the phones and other office duties while G. H. peddled freight.

Part of his route was Peoria, Illinois where he met his future wife Bev. They had three children, Brenda, Glenn and Tim. In the 1980’s, deregulation in transportation opened up opportunities in the truckload sector. As the family sat around their kitchen table, they made the decision to get into the truckload business with a name that reflected their family values: Sisbro, a combination of sister and brother. Business grew and in 1990, Sisbro became part of an organization that allowed us to grow our customer base and take advantage of new technology… but we kept the name Sisbro … maintaining our identity as a family oriented business.
